WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A MONTESSORI EDUCATION
Beyond the Desk: A Dynamic Way to Learn
In many traditional schools, students spend their days sitting at desks, listening to lectures, and memorizing facts for a test. At Pioneer Valley Montessori School, we believe elementary students are capable of so much more.
Instead of worksheets, your child will dive into deep, hands-on learning. Here, we don’t teach them to pass the next test; we teach them how to manage their time, collaborate with others, and take ownership of their own education. It’s a rigorous, active, and joyful approach to learning that prepares them for life, not just the next grade.
A Pace That Fits, Not a Pace That’s Forced
In a traditional classroom, the entire group usually moves through a curriculum at the same speed, regardless of who has mastered the concept and who is still struggling. At PVMS, we do things differently. Because our students are empowered to progress as soon as they are ready, they aren't held back by a preset schedule. This individualized approach is why our students typically work one to two grade levels ahead of their peers in conventional schools.
Freedom Within Limits: How It Works
Freedom: Students choose when and how to tackle their daily assignments based on their personal interests.
Limits: Teachers set high expectations, Track progress and check in with every child daily to make sure that all benchmarks are met, and assist when needed.
The Result: Children learn time management, independence and a love for learning.
