FINANCIAL AID

FINANCIAL AID FOR THE 2010-11 SCHOOL YEAR

To families who would like to apply for financial aid:

PVMS awards financial aid grants based upon the financial need of a family. These grants do not need to be paid back and are used to offset tuition costs. Currently, the maximum award is 1/3 of the total yearly tuition. The money for these grants comes directly from the school's budget and demonstrates our commitment to having a socio-economically diverse student population.

We work with NAIS, National Association of Independent Schools (website: www.nais.org) to help us determine family eligibility for financial aid.

To determine your family's eligibility, you must fill out an application for financial aid. We will be using the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS). This is a NAIS-owned service that helps schools objectively determine a family's ability to pay for school tuition. There is a $42 fee for this application. If this fee presents a barrier to your application, you may request a fee waiver. We are permitted to give a very limited number of fee waivers. Starting on November 1st, you may submit your application for financial aid.

Although the PFS is not available in an electronic format for emailing or downloading, families can complete the application in an interactive online format. You can also print out a worksheet, to help you organize the financial information needed for the PFS. For more information, please read the PFS online page at www.nais.org

If you are not comfortable using this online approach, you may pick up a work sheet and an official application form from our office.

Families must also submit their 2009 Federal Tax Form to our PVMS office by March 1st.

Many families require assistance beyond what we may be able to offer. The NAIS Tuition Loan Programs and Tuition Payment Plans pages should serve as a resource to help you identify other types of financing options that may be available to you.

To summarize, here are the required steps to apply for financial aid:

1. Fill out the PFS, either online (www.nais.org) or on paper. You may submit your PFS any time after November 1st. The deadline for the form to be received is March 1st.

2. Submit your 2009 Federal Tax Form to our main office by March 1, 2010.

Awards will be determined by April 15, 2010.
